“You cannot put a price on health”

We love to hear about our customers experiences after a Randox Health check and how their results have helped them to better their health and well-being. Andrew has shared his story of how the Everyman package was able to identify a raised PSA score at an early stage to help take action and prevent future illness.

Andrew’s results revealed a raised PSA

“I booked the Everyman test as I had a couple of episodes where I had trouble urinating and contacted my doctor to arrange a health check that includes a PSA score but as I already had a regular cholesterol test, they said didn’t require any further testing. Unfortunately, I did not meet the requirements for NHS screening for prostate cancer, hence why I called upon Randox Health to perform the Everyman test. I had also been on a low carb diet to try and make sure I everything else was okay in terms of my health.

The results showed a raised PSA score – and a recommendation to consult my doctor. I was able to use these results to get a PSA blood test and an appointment with my GP. From October to December the PSA results had risen and as a result my doctor booked me in for a priority MRI scan. The doctor said it was a good job I had the initial Randox Health result as he could act on the movement. A biopsy followed the MRI scan and the results showed I have prostate cancer which, whilst being bad news, at least I am now on the NHS monitoring service and this can be managed and acted upon if needs be to prevent it spreading.

Prostate cancer can go unnoticed and if left untreated can cause major problems. The Randox Health Everyman test put me in control of a situation and potentially even saved my life. I would strongly recommend anyone to take this test, you cannot put a price on health. It takes about 30 minutes and the feedback report you get is fantastic, and incredibly thorough.”
