Bianca Cook – “It’s Important For Me To Learn About My Health.”.

Two Olympic bronze medals at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, three world title wins and four European title wins are just some accolades that Team GB’s Bianca Cook has collected to make her a legend in World Taekwondo and a pioneer of the sport within Britain.

As a proud product of Liverpool, Bianca has had consistent performances throughout the course of her career with medal wins at a national level but also internationally on the biggest stages in Taekwondo. Her first olympic games in Rio 2016 showcased her skills as a strong contender within the +67kg category, advancing through the early rounds before a tough and closely contested semifinal battle but bounced back to claim bronze in the medal match and had the resiliance, technical prowess and fortitude to earn bronze again after another semi-final in Tokyo 2020.

Bianca is devastated not to be selected for Team GB after a significant knee injury but is continuing to support Team GB’s taekwondo team whilst also debuting as a BBC pundit for Taekwondo and Boxing as an expert practitioner of combat sports. We’ve had the pleasure of welcoming Bianca in for a health check before Tokyo 2020 for an Everywoman health check but this year, she’s returned to our Manchester clinic in the Trafford Centre to get insights into how her body’s changed.

"Health to me is everything."

The first time I had my Everywoman, I didn’t know what way I was going to go with it but it actually turned out to be the best MOT you could get for your health. I went in there, made sure they got my bloods done, my height and weight and basically got a report on what I needed to do to become the best verson of myself. What I needed to improve, maintain was all there and for me it was just a reality check on what was good and what was bad and I didn’t really think I needed it until it was done and I couldn’t wait to see the results of the next test.

I have had fitness tests and screenings as part of being an athlete but my Everywoman was a full medical assessment and for me, I thought “whoa, we should be doing this all the time” and the level of professionalism was crazy and it’s something I’m wanting to incorporate more into my life to understand the ups and downs of my health.

The biggest thing for me now after my Everywoman was to know more about my recovery and inflammation as the more I can discover about that aspect of my health, the easier it is to improve. For me, every % is massive. When you’re at the top level, these 1% increases in my health do help me become fitter and stronger so I can train more and add a bit more consistency.”

The Randox Everywoman health test is vital in enhancing my overall well-being, not just in sport but my everyday life. It helped me notice a slight deficiency in iron, an important marker for energy levels, allowing me to then take supplements to improve those levels. Randox’s commitment to excellence extends beyond sport, by empowering woman to prioritize health and vitality in every aspect of life.
